On this beautiful day here at Camp Geiger I spent a good majority of the day out at the pool. Even though the day started off on the colder side, the water temperature was sixty five degrees Fahrenheit, it didn’t stop the camper at the pool from having a lot of fun either in the water or on the side. To start off the day the first class trail kids came out to the pool to learn different lifesaving skills like reaching and throwing to rescue drowning people. Also while the first class trail group was there, those taking the lifesaving merit badge were working with the personal flotation devices. Later on in the day the swimming merit badge was jumping into the water to learn how to use the clothes they are wearing as floatation devices. Finally to end classes at the pool the SCUBA class got to put on all of the equipment and play some fun games at the bottom of the pool. Even though the free swim was shortened today because of scheduling changes those campers that did show up enjoyed every minute of it.
In some other areas around Camp such as the Shotgun merit badge were finishing up shooting to try to hit twenty four clay targets to pass. On the other side of Camp in Scout Craft Valley some things that were going on was that after lunch the braves and warriors in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say were practicing their dance for tonight that they will do around the Tapping fire before ceremonies, in the Camping merit badge the campers were discussing different camping skills and comparing and contrasting different styles of tents, and in first aid they were reviewing skills that they had covered throughout the week.
As tonight's blog comes to a close I encourage you to check back here at Camp Geiger Blogspot to keep in the know on all things going on here at Camp Geiger. Also since tonight is the Tapping night remember that tomorrow I will announce who the tapper was.
