Today was one of the first truly hot days so far this summer but the action didn't stop here at Camp Geiger. Many areas around Camp were still having fun in the warm weather. Although there is a lot going on every day here there were a few specific areas that I passed by today that were even more exciting. These particular areas were the climbing tower, Marvin's hawk range, and Indian Lore.

After scurrying up the climbing tower incredibly fast those campers in the climbing class had a lot of fun going down the zip line. The campers weren't the only ones having fun zipping, even some of the staff got in on the action such as Brad Lueking when he zipped down the line prior to the tower being closed for the morning. Also next door at the COPE course they were having fun trying to fit their entire team the a web but to add an extra twist they had to do so quietly so that they would not wake up the "spider." On over at the hawk range the competition was really heating up on the first day of the weekly tournament. After two days of practicing there were many good sticks by those throwing the tomahawks. Next to the range there was a lengthy line growing as the campers patiently awaited their turn to throw the knives. Next to the large, white teepee at the entrance to Tribal grounds is where the Indian Lore merit badge has class. The beginning of the week they spent class time learning such Native American things as sign language and making costuming parts such as head bands and chokers, today though the kids were able to have a bit more fun by learning about Native American games such as "push-push" and a game in which you and your opponent stand side by side and you try to pull each other by the hand off balance.

After two and a half weeks at Camp Geiger not a dull day has gone by. If you would like to keep up to date with the fun and excitement going on I encourage you to check back here at Camp Geiger Blogspot.
